Gingerbread
Ingredients
1lb plain flour
6 ozs black treacle
8 ozs dark brown sugar
6 ozs golden syrup
6 oz margarine
1 egg
½ pint of milk
1 tablespoon of ground ginger
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon of salf
Method
Sift dry ingredients.
Put sugar, margarine, treacle and syrup in a pan and melt gently.
Mix in milk and egg
Pour into the dry mixture and stir thoroughly.
Turn into a lined 9 inch square tin.
Bake at 345 F for about 1 hour 30 minutes.
Turn out onto a wire rack to cool. Store in an airtight tin if possible for a
day or two.
